Thank you for purchasing your new hood from Quiller Triumph

If you are unsure as to the correct procedure for lowering/raising the hood then please ask us to explain – particularly important on Spitfire & TR models.

Cleaning:

PVC hoods may be cleaned with soapy water – do not use a strong detergent – any remaining stains may be scrubbed with a nylon nailbrush. Do not use petrol, thinners, white spirit or similar product.

Canvas (Double-Duck) & Mohair hoods should be cleaned only with a product specifically designed for the job & should be re-waterproofed afterwards. (we use & recommend Autoglym Complete Fabric Hood Maintenance Kit - £22.50). Dried birdshit can be difficult to remove, we recommend careful use of a brass suede shoe brush. Eventually the hood will require re-colouring due to natural fade - we can supply products to cater for this, please contact us.

Care Of Flexible Plastic Window:

Plastic windows should be cleaned frequently to extend their clarity & life

Blow off loose dirt particles, sand & grit & wipe clean with a lint-free cloth dipped in plain water only.

Do Not:

Use cleaning products containing silicones or aromatics – such as typical commercial vinyl care products and glass cleaners. (We use & recommend Renono Plastic Window Polish to remove scratches, priced at £5.95 30ml bottle - see here for further details)
Rub the plastic window when dry – this definitely will scratch it
Stow the window when dirty – this may scratch it
Stow the window when wet – mildew may form

We can supply plastic window material off-the-roll for window replacement, but stitching it into the hood is a laborious task!
